Every great journey needs a compass.

I started Community Compass because I saw how often businesses and nonprofits outgrow the financial systems they started with. The bookkeeping might be getting done, but the processes behind it don’t always keep up. Information gets harder to find, reporting becomes less useful, and it gets harder to see what’s actually happening.

With more than 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, I built Community Compass to help organizations create better structure around their bookkeeping and financial operations. That can mean managing the books month to month, reorganizing how things are tracked, improving workflows and reporting, or helping a board better understand its financial responsibilities.

The goal is simple: your financial systems should make running your organization easier, not harder.

I’m Gill, founder of Community Compass Accounting & Advisory. I have more than 15 years of experience in accounting and finance, with a strong focus on bookkeeping, financial systems, processes, and nonprofit organizations.

I’m someone who likes figuring out why something isn’t working and finding a better way to do it. Whether that means restructuring a chart of accounts, improving a bookkeeping workflow, building better reporting, or helping a board understand its financial responsibilities, I want the end result to be practical and actually useful.
